Superheroes Are Found Everywhere (S.A.F.E.)

Superheroes save the day and you can too!

Superheroes Are Found Everywhere (S.A.F.E.), was started in 2020 by a 7 year old boy who saw the need to help others facing unprecedented times.

When we all had to wear masks everywhere, this created an expense that not everyone could easily afford. This gave others the super power to help people and organizations who needed more masks and hand sanitizer. Providing these new necessities to members of the community helped save lives.

As the need for masks and hand sanitizer has evolved over time, S.A.F.E. has evolved too, and the organization’s focus has grown to include other essential needs including food and shelter.

Funds raised by S.A.F.E. will be donated to organizations that help kids and families in need.

Who We’re Helping

Our first partner was The Center for Family Justice, located in Bridgeport, CT. They break the cycle of abuse and violence by providing services that create hope, restore lives, and drive social change through education and community collaboration. The funds we raise initially helped them provide PPE to the families they service and will continue to help them help local Connecticut families.

Another partner is World Central Kitchen. Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises while working to build resilient food systems with locally led solutions. WCK has served more than 70 million fresh meals to people impacted by natural disasters and other crises around the world.

About our Founder

Oscar Lewis Drais was a 7-year old in 2nd Grade in Weston, CT when the organization was founded in 2020. During the summer of 2020, upon learning that we all have to wear masks now whenever we leave our homes and carry hand sanitizer everywhere, Oscar’s first question was, “What about people who can’t afford these things?” After some further discussion, the idea for Superheroes Are Found Everywhere (S.A.F.E.) was born.

Oscar is now 11 and is still passionate about helping others. He is excited to continue to help local Connecticut organizations focused on kids and families, and he is also excited to connect his passion for cooking and food with his interest in helping others by working to support food security locally and around the world.

When he is not working to raise funds for S.A.F.E., Oscar loves to play soccer, the cello and Risk.

“Oscar is a special kid with a big heart. I’m happy to see him put his passion into action.”

— Ms. Quinn, Teacher at Hurlbutt Elementary
